I've been to Tampere this week for business. It's an industrial capital of Finland, so I expected to see a gloomy place. But it was not. It's a pity I only been to some meetings and spent around half an hour on the station so was not able to properly wander around the city.
We took a train from Helsinki to Tampere and back.

The good thing about train is there was a free wifi. Bad thing was it was so slow! May be it was a train driver sharing his mobile's GPRS connection?
We've been riding the train for almost two hours, and during most of the time there was a sun slowly rising on the left.

We reached Tampere soon.

Tampere city center looks similar to St. Petersburg this time of year.

It was already dark when we caught a train back to Helsinki.

There was a snow storm that diverted a lot of flights, and some airline strike that canceled others. So the hotel I was staying iт was full with ppl complaining about extra nights they have to spend in Finland.
