This weekend was likely the last proper summer sunny one. So we went to our friends in Mannheim, and they shown us a Heidelberg which lies nearby in the same Necker valley, reachable by tram.
Here is the town and Necker river view.

We liked Heidelberg Uni cantine very much :) lunch was around 6E per person and was quite good. Not bad at all for a place serving food for students for nearly last 500 years.
The old castle overlooking the town is one of the symbols of Heidelberg, full with tourists.

We were told that meeting a bride brings luck in Germany, so we were lucky three times. Ppl like to come to the castle to take wedding photos. This asian pair had 4 photographers with serious cameras taking pictures of them, so they did not mind an extra one :)

We came back to Mannheim late evening to see a sunset over Necker.

Thanks for advice from one of my colleagues, we've taken a route via Nuernberg rather then shorter but busier one via Stuttgart. It saved us some time, so the one way was just around 4 hours, as predicted by google maps.
