Hand sanitizers

I just returned from a trip to US, where I met with several customers. I noticed there were hand sanitizers in each meeting room and many work desks/cubicles. I did not pay much attention in my previous trips to US, is it a recent fad? Coronovirus?

Could have been. When a campaign starts, in many companies they do this.

У нас в компании (SuperSonic Imagine, Юг Франции) тоже расставили в отделах в связи с коронавирусом небольшие ёмкости.

It was common in shared office environments (with no pre-assigned seating) for a while now.

"no pre-assigned seating" - Sun's old network computer office :)? At Intel traveller's desks in Oregon I haven't seen any.

I have not worked at Sun so don't know, but it does look like their "the network is the computer" motto.

Typical open office now has identical stupid PCs that allow workers to log in remotely to their cloud desktop, same as when working remotely from home. Whoever comes to work early can choose where to sit, everyone else gets whatever is free, complete with germs from yesterday's user.
