What to do in Berkeley?

I am in Berkeley today, flying back to Munich Saturday morning. I don't want to rent a car, is there anything interesting around or I should take Bart to San Francisco?

I strongly recommend Stanford, Palo Alto, also other small Peninsula cities, South San Francisco all the way through Mountain View. Also, Livermore and Pleasanton, very old and special (older than San Fran).

SF and its East Bay mirror would disappoint you. Crowds, dirt and pot.

I come here often but never spent time in east bay before. So interesting to see what it is like here.

Check out the campus if you are short on time.
Still, my personal favorites on this side of the bay are Pleasanton and Livermore.
Or, otherwise, Walnut Creek / Martinez in the north (and Port Costa, the hidden gem).

Don't waste the time through the awful traffic but go to Marine County. Traffic could be as awful but closer. I mean Tiburon. In LJ I replied to your request.

Marin county is great indeed - now driving there for a business meeting :)
