When I was working in New Zealand at Endace the most important piece of hardware I was using was called DAG. It's job was to collect all data traveling on the wire regardless of throughput, packet sizes, protocols etc. So I was sure the name stands for Data Acquisition and Diagnostics. As you may guess the technology is used by spooks a lot.

It is the fact indeed, but I did not know Kiwi farmers colloquial words, where DAG means a bag under a sheep's tail where all the poo goes to. (In case cleaner sheep skin is required). So this analogy between internet traffic and sheep's poo was intended by the technology inventors, and is not understandable outside New Zealand.
