Trip report: Heidelberg

This weekend was likely the last proper summer sunny one. So we went to our friends in Mannheim, and they shown us a Heidelberg which lies nearby in the same Necker valley, reachable by tram.

Here is the town and Necker river view.

We liked Heidelberg Uni cantine very much :) lunch was around 6E per person and was quite good. Not bad at all for a place serving food for students for nearly last 500 years.

Thanks for advice from one of my colleagues, we've taken a route via Nuernberg rather then shorter but busier one via Stuttgart. It saved us some time, so the one way was just around 4 hours, as predicted by google maps.

2.6.30 is required for AVX on SNB!

Lost almost 2 hours today before I recalled that AVX state saving was implemented only in 2.6.30. So if you are running some AVX code on SNB on any mainstream distro, you'll get very bizarre errors until you upgrade the kernel!
P.S. I dont' remember which SPs are required for Windows, but I am quite certain one needs some service pack to run AVX code on Win as well...
