German TV bias.
May. 31st, 2010 12:20 pmIt's the first time I am not happy with German TV. Yesterday there was a program telling about places where Germans like to spend holidays. They were telling about Italy, China, Greece, Turkey, Netherlands - all most popular holiday destinatins.
While speaking about Italy, Greece, China and Netherlands, they shown culture, cuisine, activities, perception of local people by Germans and Germans by local people. Turkey part was a different story. There was no information about Turkey. The main and only topic was how uncivilised, barbarious and evil are Russians who stay in the same resorts as Germans. Instead of showing countries' attractions, food and people, as with other chapters, the video part was devoted to drunk Russians harrasing Germans.
Interviewers were quite professional: they did not say a single bad word about Russians. It was German tourists they interviewed telling things like "Russische essen wie schweine", etc. Video footage was supporting the claims.
I am in a mixed mood about this whole program. I agree that my fellow Russians some times misbehave on vacation (and so do young British quite often). If there was a TV show about this, showing different views, even with same TV footage, I would not complain. But turning around all show topic from country attractions to Russian tourists was not fair.
Also I feel a bit sorry about Turkey as well, it's a pity they did not show anything good about it as they did about Greece, Italy, Netherlands.
