Mt Pirongia
Jan. 13th, 2008 06:55 pmThe closest mountain reserve to our home is Mt.Pirongia. So today after twenty minutes driving on a good rural road we ended up at the car park. It takes 20 minutes walk in the farmland (beetroot, cows, horses, hanuka, hay, corn) to finally get to the bush.
Baby ferns are beautiful:

No wonder it is a symbol of this country
There are several caves in the reserve.

This one is 20 meters from entrance to the exit.
One can swim in a pretty cold stream going down the mountain.

Fortunately, the hottest water is in the deepest place, sun beams go through the water, and the current is not strong.
