I was expecting more from these tropical waters. I was reading other reports describing clear water, various sea life, good diving conditions, attractions like wrecks, resident manta rays, etc. There is also a nice cave, but you need scuba or be a much better freediver than me to go there.

It was OK overall, but for example I failed to find anything worth looking at depths shallower than 5 meters. It means there were nothing interesting for Julia to see, so I was diving alone. It took me 2 days to find more or less attractive reefs, and I still had to swim 200 meters off the coast, and then to dive to 10+ meters to see anything interesting. I tried to book a trip on a boat but it was cancelled because of high waves. And it was cancelled for good - places they wanted to get us to are reachable from the shore any way.

Very often the water was murky, cold, waves were high, light was poor because of clouds.

Visibility some times went down from 20 meter to less than 5.

Unlike all my previous trips I have not seen anyone else freediving/spearfishing or even snorkeling in the ocean. Only scuba boats and kite/wind surfers.

I was the only one.

There were very few varieties of living coral and few kinds of fish.

All underwater pics (28) are in picasa album
