It is very difficult to pick a cover photo for this story. There are very few attractions in Sal, and most of goodies are related to the beach and the ocean.

Now it is the highest point of a high season. Locals told us all hotels are full until late April, and we had very little choice when booking because we did it very recently. Still, the beach is very often empty - just some local guy is walking towards a remote village.
Even in center of Santa Maria (the main beach front village) just before the sunset there are hardly anyone on the beach.

Nobody swims or sails, just some tourist walks along the coast with stray dogs.

Some were doing pair asanas on the beach.

It was very difficult for a ~12 year old girl to hold the weight of her ~40 y.o. mother.
When sun finally sets it is so cold and windy that the beach becomes totally empty.

When it is daytime (from about 10AM till 2PM), there is some activity on the beach.

Mostly wind and kite surfing, because of waves and very strong wind.
Only the best survive the weather

So unlike in Egypt when I was freediving 100-200 meters off the coast surfers easily avoided hitting me. I know I should install a dive flag, but I did not. So before each dive I was carefully looking around to see if there is anyone who could approach me in next minute or so. Luckily, there were no close calls.
