Lacking the corals and most of colorful fish, the brightest spots underwater were starfish and some of the algae.

That is the brightest starfish I've seen, a pink one.

All others were orange or red.

Once I found some eggs laid in the sea weed about 3 meters below surface.

I am still curious why I have not noticed anyone guarding it or eating it.

This time I had only very basic underwater camera, so I was only able to make pictures when lights were perfect. Hundreds of those that had some dark areas I had to erase. There were only two that survived the process.

This one I just liked,

and this one is the only evident I have that I seen how a crab is building its nest. It was too dark for the camera, hence the pic quality.

The crab (grey spot in the center on a left from a fish passing by) was not big enough to impress me, but it was big enough to be served in a seafood restaurant. The nearest restaurant was about 200 meters away from the crabs nest. I was watching how it was bringing in big stones and building a den until I felt cold. I did not know they can build big structures of stones..

Almost all swimmers we've seen were wearing a footwear to protect a foot from urchins. We did not. Some times we were wearing fins, and we always were wearing goggles and use them to stop just one meter short of the shore rocks and find a safe way from the water. After spending some time quietly examining the rocks at the shore, we seen plenty of smaller but very colorful fish getting out of their hideouts.

The cutest one was one of the smallest, and it was not possible to get the right pic of it with my camera, it is too small.

Next time I will try getting a cheap soft case for my normal camera only to take pictures of those creatures that live right off the shore. This would be useless for tropical waters but highly beneficial for Adriatic and may be Mediterranean.

Much like in tropical waters, there is always some bigger fish hiding under any big boulder.

When free diving in tropical waters, I usually go down to 10 meters, stay there for about 10 seconds looking around and making pictures, and then slowly ascend to the water surface. Diving deeper is tempting but could be dangerous without a trained buddy. In Adriatic I went down to only about 6 meters and felt uncomfortable going deeper. Mainly it was because of a high water temperature gradient and partially because of light effects, it becomes dull
