Few months ago I encountered someone who I think is an undercover CIA officer. I met the guy in US. He claimed he does not have Russian roots but his Russian was very good - he told me he learned it in community college in San Francisco. We were discussing Russian foreign policy for a while, than we talked about our travels in Russia. He have been to more places than I have been to.
What makes me think his real job is not just in engineering is timings of some of his travels. He had been to Kyrgiztan in 2005, North Ossetia in July 2008, Ukraine in 2004. He likes hiking and mountain climbing in places like those.
He told me his job is technical like mine, but for a technical person he had very good knowledge of Russian and European history. It is not very typical for a young US engineer, though some times happens. I have no real evidences about him, just guesses.
The guy's identity is not under threat any way. I don't remember his name (if he told me real one). I have a bad memory for ppls faces, e.g. it takes me about 5 encounters to reliably remember a person's face. So I would not be able to recognize him if I see him again.
This post is a test if black helicopters fly in hear in Germany :) I mean I just wonder if he reported our 15 minutes conversation and if he did, will this post be attached to the same file. There is no way to check for me of course. But even Lenovo customer support monitors blogs and replies to some posts, why CIA should not?
