When dialing to a conference bridge, you always have to dial the phone number, then the bridge number. DTMF detection technology is about 40 years old. However, one conference bridge vendor now employs people (they sound like they have UK accent but not sound very authentic) that ask for the conf code, then they dial it for you.
I have mixed feelings about it. I think this is the worst kind of job creation, but if someone works there, there is no better job available. And apparently the conference vendor created this framework so that customers feel special that they are served by human operators rather than a script.
