Pigeons nest
Jan. 23rd, 2012 10:11 amI have never seen a baby pigeon before, and there are two good reasons for that.
1. They usually nest in places that are difficult to access, e.g. just under roof.
2. When a pigeon flies off from the nest it is just one month old, but looks exactly like an adult one (apart from eye color)
I was lucky to notice in december that two pigeons started building a nest on top of a train platform I use as a start of my daily commute. So I was watching them building the nest, then taking turns sitting on eggs.
On December 28th two pigeons hatched, and for a few days one of the parents was guarding them from crows, while other flying away to get food and accumulate pigeons' milk.
Days passed, and now the twins are already the size of an adult pigeon, they recently changed color from light brown to normal.
A pic under cut was made few days ago when they were brown.
