Age discrimination
Sep. 8th, 2011 10:30 pmI was sitting in a lab today debugging a technology demo for a trade fair coming next week. A demo involves showing different movies in a background, and you may guess that three of the movies we have are Blender project free movies. When I go through MWC, CeBIT, CES, etc booths every second screen shows one of those.
In the beginning of "Elephant's dream" movie there is a place where mechanical birds start flying. At that very moment, there is a quiet high frequency noise. The noise goes on for nearly a minute.
We were surprised that few other guys working in the same room were really, really annoyed by the sound. Likely reason - they are ~10 year younger than me, and it works as http://www.neuroinnovations.com/teen_away.html . I knew the effect in theory but did not expect it could be observed so easily.
