I've just noticed that public holidays are arranged here in a bit more convenient way than in Russia.
For example - tomorrow we celebrate Waitangi day, national holiday, commemorating a treaty between the Crown and Maori chiefs. All holidays that do not fall on Monday and Friday are just moved to closest Monday or Friday, making a long weekend. I like it more then moving Sundays and Saturdays..
P.S. After watching TV this morning I've got an impression that I am back in Cheboksary and it's not Waitangi treaty day but an anniversary of peaceful annexation of Chuvash republic by Ivan the Terrible. The only difference is that the treaty signed by Ivan is not a matter of current political discussions.
