New gaming genre.
Oct. 8th, 2008 03:11 pmIt's a common wisdom that new gaming genre is a rare beast. Very often such genres appear after some new technology enables a new facet of human computer interaction.
Latest one is augmented reality, that summons a lot of new sub-genres, e.g. wii.
I am certain that I've just found a new sub-genre, that is feasible to implement now, and I was not able to google anything even close. However it's pretty trivial so I reckon games of this genre will appear in 2009, and I think they will be popular. Popular almost up to tetris scale.
Now I only wonder if I'll have enough guts this time to get it to a playable prototype phase. If I'll have anything soon (till mid-November), then would need some artist's help.
Generally I agree that bare idea costs nothing, but this time I will make an exception and will not describe it here. However, it will be unfair to the readers. So here is a hint: This gaming genre could be developed just mashing up 2 of the winners of the first phase of Google Android Developer challenge. (Btw I've made my submission too, but made it only to top 10%, not top 3% that one in the first phase)
P.S. It's a shame I was not able to make it prior to http://softwareblogs-rus.intel.com/2008/09/17/game-demo-2008-2
Marianna, any chance something close enough coming soon?
