If the outcome is pure luck (let's assume it for calculation), then 0.2 of all viable contestants win 25000$ = 5000$ mean win. Out of those 50, 10 win 100000$ = 0.2*0.2*100000$=4000$ mean win. Also 10 win 275000$ = 11000$ mean win.
Total mean is 20000$ for anybody who had entered a challenge.
So it's good enough for individual or team but probably not good enough per se for a company that needs to fund 10 man-months on this.
That btw means that if we reduce judging process to picking random winners and run 5 [independent] contests then mean outcome would be 100000$ for each participant, so the total money earned will be distributed as a Gaussian with maximum at about 100000$.
