First phase of Android Developer Contest is over, and looks like there are about 250 viable entries.

If the outcome is pure luck (let's assume it for calculation), then 0.2 of all viable contestants win 25000$ = 5000$ mean win. Out of those 50, 10 win 100000$ = 0.2*0.2*100000$=4000$ mean win. Also 10 win 275000$ = 11000$ mean win.

Total mean is 20000$ for anybody who had entered a challenge.

So it's good enough for individual or team but probably not good enough per se for a company that needs to fund 10 man-months on this.

That btw means that if we reduce judging process to picking random winners and run 5 [independent] contests then mean outcome would be 100000$ for each participant, so the total money earned will be distributed as a Gaussian with maximum at about 100000$.

New Zealand TV was quite a difference to what we've used to watch in Russia. While there are some bright spots like a lot of great things about cooking and animals, ads looked weird first. E.g. ads about remedies for cows, or this one:

The accent is typical for some social/ethnic backgrounds.
Also there are good local news but very few international. I think even Putin-centric international news is better then nothing at all, but there is internet anyway so I should not be complaining, especially considering we didn't have a TV in Russia.
