Oktoberfest 2010

It is our second Oktoberfest in Munich. As we live here, there is no choice to go or not to go. We simply don't go, we are not much in to beer tasting. But first 2 days are always nice, so we just go to see the parades.

We've been to both parades now, so Oktoberfest is over for us.

15 pics are under cut below. (There are no pics of pretty girls in Dirndls)

Even girls in pretty dresses do march like soldiers here in Munich

By the way about soldiers most of those marching have rifles from 18th-19th centuries, but some have crossbows:

This is the most dangerous part of German armed forces: Bavarian farmers armed with traditional weapons:

These folks are also tough, I would not try to steal a horse from any of them.

This is the only guy who has a rifle and marches alone. I was too afraid to take pics of those who are in the bigger groups :)

Some are peaceful, e.g. firefighters. What they did with the crowd was quite handy, it was +12 and a chilly wind.

Nevertheless, some participants felt like bathing time.

There was even a live blacksmith on the wheels!

It is also about beer, so there was some carriage full with hops:

And of course all Munich's breweries. Loewenbrau was the only one using oxen to carry the beer:

There were many participants under 5 yo in the parade:

It was fun overall and 2 hours had passed too quickly.

Have you noticed traditional gingerbreads hanging on the trees?

Because it is a special Oktoberfest (200 years anniversary), everything this years is a bit bigger and longer. So I think my post would be the first one: all sane ppl in Munich are still on Theresienwiese doing something more fun than LJ posts.
