Wetab firmware

Marketing folks liked an interactive Meego demo my colleagues and I created in August for IFA. No wonder - it is eye candy. So it was shown on quite a few industry fairs, lately I was showing it on CES and MWC. As it evolves a bit I will have to set it up on CeBit this Monday.

One of the devices we use is WeTab. It is a first Meego based tablet, it was on sale since last September. When it was just released there were some complaints from end users about touch screen sensitivity. There was indeed a bug with firmware, and it was fixed a while ago.

The fix gets downloaded automatically, but to apply the patch user need to go to a well hidden menu and click a button there. For each show I get a new device to install, so the first thing I do is I perform this touchscreen firmware upgrade. The right version is 1.05f btw.

I am so used to perform this routine check that recently I found out that I've "automatically" upgraded f/w on all Wetabs on display in a nearby Mediamarkt. I hope it will improve their sales as the user experience gets better dramatically.
